Factores de riesgo cardiovasculares y calcio score en pacientes con enfermedad arterial periférica

Resumen

Introducción:La correlación entre la enfermedad arterial periférica y el riesgo de padecer episodios cardiovasculares graves es elevada ya que suele asociarse a ateroesclerosis coronaria y cerebral. El calcio score es un proceder no invasivo de alto valor predictivo en la enfermedad coronaria, la cuantificación volumétrica de calcio en la pared coronaria junto al manejo de los factores de riesgo garantiza un manejo adecuado del paciente diagnosticado de enfermedad arterial periféricaasí como un tratamiento integral.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre factores de riesgo y resultados del Calcio Score con angiografía vascular periférica.

Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal, la población estuvo conformada por 556 pacientesa los que se les realizó Angiografía Vascular Periférica y Calcio Score, quedando constituida por 209 pacientes mediante un muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple.

Resultados:El grupo etario predominante con EAP fue los hombres mayores de 60 años.Los principales factores de riesgo encontrados asociados fueron la edad, el sexo, la hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus seguido del hábito de fumar y la hipercolesterolemia.Se demostró que existe una relación evidente de la severidad en las enfermedades arteriales periféricas y coronarias.

Conclusiones: La cuantificación elevada de calcio coronario mediante Calcio Score basado en la técnica de Agatston tuvo una relación evidente con la severidad de la enfermedad arterial periférica a los cuales se le asociaron con mayor incidencia la presencia de factores de riesgo como la edad mayor de 60 años, el sexo masculino y la hipertensión arterial.
